Describe the client

Name the kind of company and the problem you fix. The agent finds the ones showing signs of it.

Where the signals are

Leadership changes, expansions and restructures are public: in the news, on company sites and in job posts.

New leaders buy help

A new executive in their first months is looking for quick wins and outside expertise.

Your first email

Congratulate the new leader, name one problem you've solved for similar companies, and offer a short call.

How to get clients for a consulting business

Consulting is sold on trust, which is why most of it comes through referrals. Outbound earns a hearing when it's specific about the problem and timed to a moment of change.

Name the problem, not the service

"Shorter lead times" or "a cleaner month-end" lands; "operational consulting" doesn't. Brief for companies showing that problem.

Write to new leaders

New executives look for outside help in their first months. Appointments are announced in company news and on their own sites.

Offer something small first

A short diagnostic or a one-page plan is easier to say yes to than a project. It's also how trust starts.

Check the email rules where you sell

In the US, CAN-SPAM allows B2B cold email with a working opt-out. In the UK, limited companies can be emailed with an opt-out, but sole traders and partnerships are treated like individuals. In Germany, commercial email usually needs prior consent even between businesses. This isn't legal advice, so check the market you're contacting.
